Eurocopter EC120B Colibri

.

The Eurocopter Colibri EC120B is a light single-engine helicopter which can carry up to 4 passengers in addition to the pilot.

The design of the cabin/luggage hold assembly makes it particularly suitable for widely different types of civilian and Para public missions. The first helicopter in its class (1.6 ton) to comply with the requirements of the new JAR 27 regulations, the Colibri is fitted with crash-resistant fuel system, pilot and passenger seats.

Work on the Colibri is shared with two Asian partners, with the distribution being as follows:

  • Eurocopter leads engineering and is responsible for overall design, ground tests, flight testing, production of the drive trains, avionics suite, electrical systems, overall integration, final assembly and certification.

  • CATIC/Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Company (HAMC) design and manufactures the fully equipped fuselages, complete with fuel system and the composite canopy. This is a 24 per cent programm share

  • Singapore Technologies Aerospace is in charge of access doors, the tail-boom and the composite structure for the Fenestron tail-rotor as well as the windshields. This is a 15 per cent program share.
